Artwork Description

Amrit Karki worked with more than 20 households, months in advance to create a superimposed composition on the iconic facade of Kirtipur. Visible from hundreds of meter away, the artist’s intervention questions the idea of a city and what it represents. More important than the output has been the extensive community processes that the artist undertook to create the large scale mural.

Karki is a multi-disciplinary artist and has exhibited his work at several art exhibitions since 2008 in Pokhara and Kathmandu. A recent Bachelor of Fine Arts graduate from Kathmandu University, Center for Art and Design,  Karki’s most recent works were included in the National Fine Arts Exhibition (2014), Yantra 4.0 (2015) and Solidarity (held in Alliance Francaise in 2016).
