This painting can be situated in the tradition of the Pop Art. The artist combines banal vernacular with religious imagery. A god being depicted as a superhero is an image which can be read from different perspectives. The artist connects an American icon, Superman with the iconic imagery of Hindu diety.


Laxman Karmacharya (b. 1986) has a BFA from Kathmandu University Center for Art and Design, Kathmandu, Nepal.
